  • Antonio Stradivari's 1682 Violin Realizes GBP 388,500 at Sotheby's On March 21, 2001, Lenta.ru reported that a 1682 violin by Antonio Stradivari had sold at Sotheby's in London for GBP 388,500 to an anonymous private collector, below a presale forecast of up to GBP 450,000. The instrument had previously belonged to an unnamed professional musician from Europe, and the source said Stradivari made only five violins in 1682. Sotheby's instrument-department head Tim Ingles compared the model's characteristics with Stradivari's so-called golden-period violins.Lenta.ru · lenta.ru
