Fine Art Private Sales

Maegis Arts facilitates confidential private-treaty acquisitions and sales of exceptional fine art, representing qualified buyers or sellers and coordinating sourcing, documentation, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.

Our focus

Paintings and sculptures by artists spanning the Old Masters to the most influential figures of modern and contemporary art. Mandates typically concern:

  • Blue-chip modern art
  • Impressionist and post-impressionist art
  • Modern masters
  • Postwar and contemporary art
  • Old Masters
  • Historically important or patrimonial works
  • Important private collections
  • Museum-quality works

How a private-treaty sale works

In a private-treaty sale, a work is negotiated privately between the parties rather than offered publicly at auction or in a gallery. Terms, timing, and price are agreed confidentially, with no public exposure of the work or of the seller.

Representing a seller

We assess whether a work fits our practice, confirm ownership and the authority to sell, and establish realistic expectations. The work is then presented to a limited number of qualified buyers, with the seller's identity protected throughout, and we coordinate due diligence, negotiation, and documentation through closing.

Representing a buyer

We clarify the collecting criteria, identify privately held works that may correspond to them, and assess provenance, condition, and pricing. We then coordinate access and documentation, and support the negotiation through closing and delivery.

In every transaction, Maegis Arts identifies which side it represents and avoids undisclosed conflicts.
