July 8 concert to open return of Suzuki Institute

Violinist Julia Salerno is featured in the Rochester Chamber Music Society’s concert on Sunday, July 8 at 4 p.m. at the Federated Church in Rochester, opening the Green Mountain Suzuki Institute. The Violin Channel reports that a 35-year-old woman in Nagoya, Japan was sentenced to two years in prison for violently trashing a collection of 54 violins and 70 bows, owned by her ex-husband Daniel Olsen Chen, a Japan-based string instrument dealer. The collection was valued at over US $1.5 million. Qin Yue denied involvement and plans to appeal. The couple divorced in 2016.
