Rare violin by Michela ndegelo Bergonzi from 1750 donated to the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra in Yekaterinburg

The article reports that in Yekaterinburg on March 13, an antique violin made in 1750 by the Italian master Nicolò Michelegn Bergonzi was presented to the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra. The instrument, once stored in a bank, was gifted to the Sverdlovsk Philharmonia by Governor Eduard Rossel at the Governor's Ball; Vladimir Spivakov helped locate the violin in America, with expert evaluations in London and Paris leading to its transfer. The instrument will be played by the orchestra's principal violinist Margarita Gorshkova, and a bow from Hill & Sons was also presented.

The Stradivarius violin made by Italian master Antonio Stradivari was sold at Sotheby’s in London for 388,500 pounds. The anonymous private collector purchased it after pre-auction estimates suggested it could reach 450,000 pounds. Sotheby’s Tim Ingles noted the instrument’s characteristics are close to Stradivari’s instruments from the so-called 'golden period.'
